A Better Way to Evaluate Undergraduate Teaching

Amajor problem in higher education is the lack of a good way to measure the quality of teaching. This makes it very difficult for faculty to objectively determine the quality of their teaching, work systematically to improve it, and document that quality.

Earning a college degree has never been more important. People with a college education have on average substantially higher earnings, pay more taxes, live healthier lives, and have more stable marriages than those without one (Baum, May, & Payea, 2013; Oreopoulos & Salvanes, 2011).
